A Legacy of Auto Parts in Saint Marys

For decades, Saint Marys has relied on locally owned auto parts stores to keep vehicles running smoothly. The journey of Carquest of Kansas – Saint Marys began with Mr. & Mrs. Luther "Buck" McClain, who originally opened a Green Light Auto Parts store. Over the years, it evolved into a Parts Plus store, then a Bag A store, before finally becoming a Carquest store in 2000 moving the store to 608 W. Bertrand.

In January 2016, the McClains’ store suffered a major setback when the roof collapsed, leaving the future uncertain. However, a new chapter began when Todd and Tamara Wichman purchased the remaining inventory from Mrs. McClain and committed to continuing the tradition of exceptional service and quality parts in Saint Marys.

Determined to provide the community with a trusted auto parts source, the Wichman’s opened a new Carquest store at 722 W. Bertrand in June 2016. Today, they remain dedicated to serving DIYers, mechanics, and auto enthusiasts with expert knowledge, high-quality products, and small-town customer service.
